In a shocking revelation, the main accused in the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, Shiv Kumar Gautam, confessed to waiting outside Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for 30 minutes to confirm Siddique’s death. After the shooting, Gautam quickly changed his shirt and stood among the crowd outside the hospital to ascertain whether the politician had succumbed to his injuries.
Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead on October 12 in Mumbai’s Bandra area by three assailants allegedly linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The attack took place during Dussehra celebrations, with the shooters using the noise of firecrackers as cover. Siddique sustained two bullet injuries to his chest and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he later passed away.
Gautam, the main shooter, revealed to the police that he stood outside the hospital to listen to the crowd’s conversations and confirm if his “job” had been properly executed. Once he learned of Siddique’s critical condition, he left the hospital premises and fled the scene. Gautam’s escape plan involved changing his appearance and traveling to various locations, including Kurla, Thane, Pune, and Uttar Pradesh, before being arrested near the Nepal border.
The Mumbai Crime Branch and the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF) arrested Gautam along with four accomplices who provided him shelter and assisted in his escape. The investigation continues as new details emerge, shedding light on the chilling events surrounding Baba Siddique’s murder.
