In a welcome move for small businesses and the hospitality sector, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced a price cut of ₹51.50 on 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, effective September 1, 2025. However, there is no change in the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders, which remain steady across major cities.
New Commercial LPG Rates
Following the revision:
- Delhi: ₹1,580
- Mumbai: ₹1,532
- Kolkata: ₹1,702
- Chennai: ₹1,738
This reduction is part of the monthly price review mechanism based on global fuel benchmarks and input costs.
Domestic LPG Prices Hold Steady
Despite fluctuations in international energy markets, domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged:
- Delhi: ₹853
- Mumbai: ₹852.50
- Kolkata: ₹879
- Chennai: ₹868.50
The last revision for domestic cylinders was a ₹50 hike on April 8, 2025, and rates have held steady since then.
Relief for Businesses
The price cut is expected to ease operational costs for:
- Restaurants and hotels
- Street food vendors
- Catering services
- Tea stalls and dhabas
While modest, the reduction offers some relief to commercial users who rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
Government Support & Market Stability
The Union Cabinet recently approved a ₹30,000 crore compensation package for OMCs to offset losses from domestic LPG sales, helping maintain price stability despite global volatility.
