Chennai Power Cut: Close To 75 Locations To Be Hit By Supply Disruption On August 6

Residents in several parts of Chennai should prepare for a scheduled power cut on Wednesday, August 6, as the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) will be carrying out essential maintenance work. According to the official announcement, the power supply will be suspended in approximately 75 locations across various divisions for five hours, from 9 am to 2 pm.

The planned power shutdown is necessary for routine maintenance and to ensure the stability of the power infrastructure. TANGEDCO has stated that the power supply will be restored before 2 pm if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule.

Key Affected Areas in Chennai

The power outage will impact several sub-divisions of Chennai. Residents in the following major areas are advised to make necessary arrangements to cope with the temporary disruption:

  • Red Hills Division: Eswaran Nagar, Perumal Nagar, Pammadukulam Colony, Indira Nagar, Solaiamman Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and surrounding areas.
  • Tirumullaivoyal Division: Pondeswaram, Maagaral, Komakkambedu, Kaarani, Thamaraipakkam, Koduveli, Vellacherry, Karlapakkam, Kadhavur, and Arakkampakkam.
  • Pallavaram Division: Kamakshi Nagar, Devaraj Nagar, Pasumpon Nagar, Balaji Nagar, Thiru Nagar, Padmanabha Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, LR Rajamanikam Road, Anna Salai (7th to 15th Street), and Signal Office Road.
  • Polichalur Division: Thiru Nagar, Padmanaba Nagar, Ganamani Nagar, Bhavani Nagar, PCS Colony, Rajeswari Nagar, Bajanai Koil Street, Prem Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Mogambigai Nagar, Vinayaga Nagar, and Shanmuga Nagar.

Residents are advised to plan their day accordingly, charge electronic devices in advance, and make alternative arrangements for any work or activities that rely on electricity. This scheduled maintenance is a regular part of TANGEDCO’s efforts to provide a more reliable power supply to the city’s vast network.
