Bengaluru’s Food Safety Department has issued a stark warning to several prominent hotels in the city, including the popular Empire Hotel chain, after lab tests revealed their kababs were unsafe for consumption. The alarming discovery came after samples were collected from six major hotels across various areas of Bengaluru, including Shivajinagar, Basavanagudi, Mahadevapura, Bommanahalli, Malleswaram, and Hebbal.
The investigation, prompted by concerns over food safety, found that the kababs from all tested establishments contained artificial colors, with the presence of cancer-causing Sunset Yellow specifically highlighted in the lab reports. This finding raises serious health concerns for consumers who regularly frequent these establishments.
Following the conclusive lab results, the Food Safety Department has promptly issued notices to all six implicated hotels, including the Empire Hotel, demanding an explanation and a response within 30 days. The department has indicated that failure to provide a satisfactory answer will result in stringent legal action.
This incident serves as a crucial reminder for the public to exercise caution regarding their health, even when dining at seemingly reputable and large hotel chains.
