The monsoon rains continue their relentless onslaught across Karnataka, with coastal and Malenadu districts bearing the brunt of the downpour, severely impacting daily life. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the heavy rainfall will persist throughout this week.
In light of the severe weather warnings, precautionary holidays have been declared for schools and colleges in several districts.
Hassan District: Due to the continued heavy rains in the Malenadu region of Hassan district, schools in Sakleshpur and Belur taluks will remain closed tomorrow, July 26th. Hassan District Commissioner Lathakumari issued the order for Anganwadis, primary, and high schools as a precautionary measure, given the extensive rainfall over the past two days in the Malenadu area.
Uttara Kannada District: With incessant rain continuing in Uttara Kannada district, schools and colleges in five taluks will also be closed tomorrow, July 26th. Uttara Kannada DC Lakshmipriya has ordered holidays for schools in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar, and Bhatkal taluks.
Chikkamagaluru District: Chikkamagaluru district is also experiencing heavy rainfall, prompting District Commissioner Meena Nagaraj to declare holidays for schools in the Malenadu region as a precautionary measure. Anganwadis and schools in Mudigere, Kalasa, Sringeri, NR Pura, and Koppa taluks will be closed. However, colleges in these areas will operate as usual.
Shivamogga District: Shivamogga district is also witnessing heavy downpour, particularly in Hosanagara and Tirthahalli taluks. As a precautionary measure, schools and colleges in these two taluks have been declared holidays.
