Amazon India Announces 1.5 Lakh New Jobs Ahead Of Festive Season Surge

Amazon India has announced the creation of over 1.5 lakh seasonal jobs across its operations network to meet the surge in demand during the upcoming festive season. The roles span fulfilment centres, sort centres, and last-mile delivery stations in more than 400 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Lucknow.

Inclusive Workforce Expansion

The hiring drive emphasizes inclusivity, with thousands of women associates and over 2,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) already onboarded. Many of these seasonal associates continue working with Amazon beyond the festive period, with a significant number returning year after year.

Operational Scale and Reach

Amazon’s logistics infrastructure now includes:

  • Fulfilment centres in 15 states
  • Sortation centres in 19 states
  • Close to 2,000 delivery stations
  • 43 million cubic feet of storage space
  • 28,000 “I Have Space” partners
  • Thousands of Amazon Flex associates

Associate Wellbeing Initiatives

Amazon has expanded its Ashray rest centres to 100 locations nationwide and offers:

  • Free health check-ups for over 80,000 delivery associates
  • On-site AMCARE first-aid facilities
  • Early Access to Pay (EATP) program, allowing withdrawal of up to 80% of accrued salary within the first 20 days of each month
