PM Modi Launches Mission Sudarshan Chakra To Reinvent India’s Security By 2035

Narendra Modi

In a bold Independence Day declaration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled Mission Sudarshan Chakra, a visionary national security initiative aimed at revolutionizing India’s defense architecture by 2035. The mission promises to integrate cutting-edge technology, indigenous innovation, and strategic modernization to prepare India for emerging global threats.

What Is Mission Sudarshan Chakra?

Named after the mythological weapon of Lord Vishnu, Sudarshan Chakra symbolizes precision, speed, and invincibility. Modi said the mission will be “India’s shield and sword for the future,” combining cyber defense, space security, AI-powered surveillance, and next-gen warfare capabilities.

Key Components of the Mission

  • Cyber & AI Defense Grid: A nationwide AI-powered system to detect and neutralize cyber threats in real time.
  • Space Security Command: A new wing under the Ministry of Defence to monitor and protect India’s assets in space.
  • Indigenous Weapon Systems: Acceleration of Make-in-India defense projects, including hypersonic missiles, drone swarms, and autonomous combat vehicles.
  • Unified Intelligence Framework: Integration of civilian and military intelligence for faster decision-making and threat response.

Modi’s Vision for 2035

“Mission Sudarshan Chakra will make India not just secure, but future-ready,” Modi said. “By 2035, our national security will be powered by innovation, not imitation.” He emphasized the need for strategic autonomy and resilience in a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.

The Prime Minister also called on youth, startups, and academia to contribute to the mission, announcing a ₹50,000 crore innovation fund for defense R&D.

Global Impact

Defense analysts say the mission could position India as a leader in hybrid warfare and digital defense. It also signals a shift from reactive security to proactive deterrence, aligning with India’s aspirations as a global power.
